Technique: Mixed Media on canvas
Size: 100 x 100 cm
Information: Influenced by the counter-culture of the 1990s, Zokatos began in the streets, embracing graffiti’s rawness, energy, and expressive power. Transitioning from walls to canvas, he retained street art tools—markers and spray cans—while developing abstract, colorful compositions that contrast with the muted, pragmatic streets of his Parisian childhood.
At 29, his work is a distinctive fusion of urban and abstract art, moving effortlessly from spray paint to watercolor, canvas to sculpture. The vibrant, non-figurative forms are deliberately disrupted by drips and spontaneous gestures, reflecting the tension between street expression and studio practice.
Zokatos’ aesthetic resonates with the New York School’s action painting, Pollock’s rhythm, Sam Francis’ mastery of color, and lyrical abstractionists like Mathieu, Schneider, and Hartung, emphasizing speed, emotion, and immediacy. His canvases are raw, emotive transcriptions of the artist’s inner world—a vital act of existence.
