Information about the artist: Curious and shaken by the power structures and violence shaping our world, Cali feels compelled to trace human history—from the Italian Quattrocento to Woodstock, from the Factory to the barricades of cultural revolutions—driven by a deep desire to share this heritage.
Through unconventional techniques, using newspapers, BIC pens, and found objects like toys or lead soldiers, she exposes the narcissism and manipulation of contemporary society. Faces, fragments, and frozen moments are reappropriated to challenge our opinions and stir our conscience, while childhood symbols reawaken a time of uncorrupted innocence.
The butterfly, her emblem of metamorphosis, flutters across her canvases as a reminder of our visceral need for freedom and transformation. Dreaming of a world where future generations escape the trap of consumerism and social media, Cali confronts us with a question: isn’t it time to reclaim our destiny, our freedom—and rediscover our sovereign selves?
Information about the Artwork: Using her Bic, the French artist Cali takes this little girl to another, more harmonious planet. A nod to the fires that ravaged Australia in 2019, the kangaroo will be on the trip. the big idea is the communication: the planets attached by strings are the symbol of hope that we can make any world a better place if we see it through the Child innocence: a positive and encouraging view that longs to be heard."
