Collection: G. BAÔO
Born in 1975 in Belgium, Gregory BAÔO is a visual artist working at the intersection of photography, memory, and material. Using vintage photographs and archival negatives, he reinterprets icons of cinema and popular culture in dialogue with the present.
His practice combines image-making with elements of artistic jewelry. Each work is carefully prepared through visual references and the structured use of crystalline materials, then produced in limited editions that balance precision with the uniqueness of the handmade gesture.
Swarovski crystals, selected for their light-reflecting qualities, are applied by hand to give the image a tactile and sculptural dimension. They evoke memory and preservation, as if each work holds a fragment of time.
His compositions also incorporate discreet quotations from the depicted figures, subtly embedded to reveal deeper layers of meaning.
Through selective color, the recurring use of pink, and a strong material presence, Gregory BAÔO transforms archival photography into a sensitive, narrative object, exploring how icons endure and resonate across generations.
